BREAST CANCER A KILLER

 BREAST CANCER

And diagnosing

Breast cancer is typically diagnosed through a combination of methods, including mammography, breast exam, and biopsy.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast that can detect abnormalities that may not be felt during a breast exam.

If an abnormality is found on a mammogram, a biopsy is typically done to remove a sample of tissue for further examination.

If the biopsy confirms the presence of cancer, further tests such as imaging (MRI,PET etc) and blood test (CA-15.3, CA-27.29) are done to determine the stage of the cancer, which helps guide treatment decisions.

Treatment options for breast cancer may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy. The specific treatment plan will depend on the type and stage of the cancer, as well as the patient's overall health and personal preferences

SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER

The most common symptom of breast cancer is a lump or mass in the breast tissue. Other symptoms can include changes in the size or shape of the breast, skin changes such as dimpling or puckering, nipple discharge or inverted nipple, and breast or nipple pain. These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have breast cancer, but it is important to have any changes evaluated by a healthcare provider.

TREATMENT OF BREAST CANCER

The treatment of breast cancer depends on several factors, including the stage of the cancer, the type of cancer (invasive or non-invasive), and the patient's overall health. Treatment options may include surgery (such as a lumpectomy or mastectomy), radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy. In some cases, a combination of treatments may be recommended. Your treatment plan will be determined by a team of doctors and specialists, including a surgeon, oncologist, and radiation oncologist. It is important to discuss all of your options and any potential side effects with your healthcare team to make the best decision for you.
